BRAID Research |
Dr. Ellen L. Toth leads BRAID Research.
She is a diabetes specialist who works with Aboriginal Communities and organizations in Alberta and across Canada. Provincially, she is involved with the Alberta Diabetes Strategy through its Aboriginal component. She serves as Medical Director for the Aboriginal Diabetes Wellness Program (Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton), and

is Regional Medical Director for Aboriginal Health for Alberta Health Services (AHS). Nationally, Dr. Toth has been invlolved with Health Canada's Aboriginal Diabetes Initiative (ADI), the National Diabetes Surveillance System (NDSS), and the CIRCLE Study.
Dr. Toth was involved with the SLICK project. She is now Principal Investigator of the MDSi program serving Alberta's Metis as well as off-reserve Alberta. |

Tracy Connor, RN, is has been with BRAID Research and MDSi since 2003. As Projects Coordinator, Tracy oversees day-to-day project operations and administration.
MDSi is currently BRAID Research's largest initiative. MDSi staff travel out to the communities with the portable MDSi lab, providing diabetes screening services to Metis and other off-reserve and remote communities.

The BRAID Research team also includes a number of research assistants who coordinate projects and help collect data in the field for analysis, interpretation and reporting. |
